Content marketing is a really good way to drive sales over the long-term.

But if you want to succeed with content marketing, you need to focus on telling rather than selling.

If you provide helpful, relevant, interesting content, you’ll develop a reputation as a trusted expert. It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen. At that point, you’ll be the first person or business that customers think of when they’re in the market for your product or service.

However, if you use content marketing to SELL, SELL, SELL, you’ll turn off customers.

Ironically, then, the best way to generate sales from content marketing is to not try to sell.
