Is it a mistake to meet a potential client and then direct them to your website?
After all, we’re relying on them to take action; we’re relying on them to go out of their way to consume our marketing.
So might it be better to hand that marketing directly to them in the form of a flyer, brochure, catalogue, booklet, postcard, document or some other piece of print?
If we put our marketing directly in the customer’s hand, are they more likely to consume it?
The moral to the story is to take whatever approach you believe will result in more people seeing your marketing.

Nick – I’m not sure that handing a potential client a physical piece of marketing makes them more likely to read it. Many people will probably just set it down in a pile somewhere and then later recycle it. It seems to me that in today’s world, on the whole, people will be more likely to read an attractive website than a physical piece of marketing. Thoughts?
A lot of people would agree with you, Jason. That said, it doesn’t need to be either/or. You could hand someone a physical piece of marketing and make sure it had your URL prominently displayed, in case people preferred the digital option. Or you could hand some people print marketing (older people, perhaps) and direct others to your website.
