I often speak to small business owners who want to blog, who want to post on social media, who want to do videos – but they can’t, because they’re not good at those things.
Newsflash: you’re not going to magically become good at those things by not doing them. So practise.
But when people say they can’t do content marketing because they’re not good at it, what they usually mean is not that they can’t do it but that they won’t do it – because they fear being judged.
I understand that self-conscious feeling – I used to suffer from it too. But then I discovered two things:
- Other people are also self-conscious – which means they’re so busy focusing on themselves, they don’t have time to focus on you
- The more content marketing you do, the better at it you get, and the less self-conscious you become
So just publish. The sooner you start doing content marketing, the sooner you’ll start attracting more customers.
