When a media outlet covers you for free – as opposed to a paid ad – it provides tremendous social proof for your business. That’s because most customers assume that the media gives coverage only to knowledgeable, trustworthy businesses.
So how do you get free media coverage? By providing journalists with media releases that would be relevant and interesting to their audience.
You need to be persistent, because journalists receive lots of media releases every day. So you might have to send five or 10 or 20 media releases before you get coverage.
