Here’s a case study in how not to market yourself.
I had a meeting with a business owner who wanted to partner with my business, Hunter & Scribe. So how did he market the idea? By focusing entirely on his own needs.
He talked about himself. He talked about his business. He talked about how he would benefit from the partnership.
Occasionally, he would remember to talk about me and Hunter & Scribe and how the arrangement might benefit us. But then, almost immediately, he would switch the focus back to himself.
He was a good person. But he marketed his proposal poorly. So I decided not to do business with him.
