One of the reasons people fail with networking is when they meet someone valuable … all they do is talk about themselves.
This is often a sign of insecurity – you’re so desperate to impress that you can’t stop talking about what you do and how good you are.
So if you’re not going to talk about yourself, what should you talk about?
Whatever the other person wants to talk about.
That’s a great way to pay them respect and to show you value the things they care about. It’s also a great way to build a relationship.
The moment you switch your focus from you to them, you’ll become a better networker.
