Even simple, unsophisticated marketing can be effective.

For example, as I was waiting for a bus recently, I noticed a flashing electronic sign in the window of a bottle shop. Every few seconds, I would see an image of a new product and a new price.

There were so many ways this bottle shop could’ve improved its marketing – but that basic sign was a big improvement on no sign at all.

Suddenly, a thought had been planted in my mind: I could go there if I wanted a drink or if I needed to buy a present for someone else.

That’s the power of marketing.
