Networking can be a really effective form of marketing – provided you go about it the right way.

The wrong way is to meet someone and then SELL, SELL, SELL! It’s tacky and can make the other person feel cheap.

So don’t try to flog your product or service when you meet someone at an event. Rather, take the time to get to know them as a person. Then over the weeks, months and even years ahead, nurture that relationship.

Then, at some point in the future, when they are in the market for the sort of product or service that your small business sells, you’ll be the first person they think of.
